Welcome back everyone… Sorry for my absence. The economy was really starting to stress me out, but I’m back now. And, man, do I have some great news for you all. In my quest of overcoming the uncertainty of the economy, I came across the best online marketing program I’ve ever seen. It’s a program called Commission Blueprint.

Supplemental income while shouldn’t be a part time job at Kohl’s or as a server. It should be something that you can do in your spare time, with your own rules, and it shouldn’t be limited to a measly hourly rate. If you’re reading this you have already been enticed by a feeling of possibility. I know things are tight right now…the economy is failing and money has become tight in every household across the planet.

I know, because I was feeling it too. I was there.

I was stressed out every night, staying awake for too many hours wondering how I could stretch my money to last the rest of the month.

What is social media?

In a nutshell, social media is a collection of tools that are primarily internet-based that allow us humans to interact with each other. One hot technology that is currently changing the world and how we communicate is Twitter. Twitter is a way to keep your family, your fans, your followers in tune to what you are doing at all times. It took me a while to realize the true power of Twitter. Users of Twitter can ‘tweet’ about anything. Other users can search for any keyword or phrase and find these ‘tweets’ from other users. You can choose to follow anyone and be constantly updated by what they are doing.

I decided to follow certain organizations I am interested in and now receive their updates anytime anything is going on. I liken Twitter to using instant messaging applications in conjunction with micro-blogging. Barack Obama is using Twitter to keep all of his followers updated. His current following consists of over 100,000 users. It’s fascinating to think that all of those people are instantly updated when someone from the Obama group posts a message!

It seems that with each new social media application that is developed it brings us to a more simple and instant means of communication. Social media is here to stay and companies need to embrace it. To thrive and not die in this world of social media, companies need to get hooked into sites and applications like Twitter, create blogs and interact more with their client base on a more regular basis.

Google is the best!

I’m in a transition phase right now. Imagine living with someone for the last 7 years. All of your stuff is at their house. You are so embedded in a common law marriage that, at this point, a change almost doesn’t make sense. Well, what’s the attraction? Why change now when everything I have is in one place. I have many reasons to that answer that I would like to share now.

Yahoo… you’ve been so good to me.

Yahoo has served me well over the last 7 years. Primarily, I used Yahoo for email purposes. I enjoyed opening my browser and my email link was right there with all of the current news. I then got into Yahoo Messenger. I used this religiously and convinced many friends it was the way to go. Then, I got into Fantasy Football through Yahoo. Once Yahoo Calendars and notes was available, I would utilize them to the fullest. The point I’m trying to make is I WAS deeply in love with my Yahoo. With 15,000+ emails in my Yahoo mail account, how could I in my right mind decide to switch.

Google, how clean and intelligent you are.

I’ve been a website/graphic designer for that same span of time, 7 years. I have always been drawn to clean and simplistic design and style. Each time I visit Google I realize that their design is so simple and clean from all of the nice white space to the elegant and easy to read typographical choices.

Google, you can find me and all of my websites.

One thing us web designers are concerned with is search engine optimization. I have spent my lifetime as a designer trying to figure out how to get indexed in major search engines. Since I was loyal to Yahoo, I assumed many others were loyal to her as well and I tried and tried to get my websites indexed in Yahoo Directories and search listings. I never sprang for the $299.00 directory listing though.

Sadly, early on, the only reason I would go to Google was to see if my websites were indexed by her. She was the girl that you always hoped would recognize you or at least smile when you walked by her. Eye contact please Google.

Once I began creating blog style websites using Wordpress, Google started to take notice. Google is very interested in the social networking aspect of the web. If you’ll notice, many prominent Social Networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. have an extremely high PageRank.

Google’s interest in me and my websites were taking away my interest in Yahoo.

Google, you are so smart and keep getting smarter.

If I had the opportunity to visit Google and tour their space, I would surely collapse and die. I have always been fascinated by progressive learning and experimentation. Google has taken everything we use that is web related and enhanced it to the point that it would be silly to not use it. Google Maps are amazing! Can you believe they drive around EVERYWHERE and take photos of EVERYTHING?

I am a huge fan of Google Docs. There versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint are close enough for me that I have begun using them. I no longer email myself Word Documents when I need to finish up a blog post elsewhere.

Google Calenders are a breeze to use. With one click you have an event window open ready to take your info. I think it might actually be easier than Microsoft Outlook. One click is better than two, right?

Google Everything Google.

I am now becoming embedded in Google. Part of my job is to stay up on trends and technology and Google is as advanced as any company when it comes to that. Google also makes their API’s publicly available to let the community take part. I also use Google Adsense and Adwords. How nice of Google to share part of the pie with us.

Google has a brand new offering that makes earning money with Google Adsense that much more exciting. You can now add video content with Google Adsense links that show up along with the video. This is another brilliant move by Google.

Incredibly easy to use!

If you have a Google Adsense account established, set up to add video to your site is a breeze.

First, just for your own sake, you add a name and a description to your Google Adsense player.

Then, as of this writing, you have 9 color themes that you have to choose from.

Next, you are allowed to choose from 5 pre-defined sizes for your ads. A couple of the layouts allow for multiple videos. You can then choose to define the ads by keywords or by categories. If you leave these options blank, the video will be chosen based on the content of your blog or web page. You can then customize the channels and choose who your videos will be pulled from. You may have a favorite video producer that you want to feature on your site.

You now get to preview the videos and when you are done you generate code that you simply copy and paste into your site.

My secrets to earning money through ebay niche websites

In my previous post I gave you an overview of ebay affiliate marketing and shared some of the sites I have put together. This post will focus on what components you need to have in place before flipping the switch and making your site live.

If you want to duplicate my success with the ebay affiliate program please follow along very carefully. I’m not saying my way is the best way. This is my formula for setting up my niche websites in less than one hour, driving traffic to my websites very rapidly and getting listings displayed in a timely manner.

I have had many people asking exactly how I put my sites together. I’m going to write this post under the assumption that someone brand new to the ebay affiliate program has stumbled across it. If you are experienced with the program already and need to know how to fine tune your site for more success, this is for you as well, but you may need to skip to the appropriate place.

This is #2 in a series of posts that describe how I quickly and painlessly set up my niche websites. In posts following this I will get into the fine details of site setup. Due to the amount of information that goes into how this is setup, I am breaking it up into multiple posts. The Nitty Gritty

Ebay Partner Network

Ok, do get his thing kicked off, you will need to sign up for the Ebay Partner Network. Signing up is a piece of cake and you can get a response back and be ready to go quickly.

While you are waiting for your response, you can begin getting the tools in place that you need for your website.

Keyword enriched domain name

Next, you need a domain name for your website. My advice to you, from experience, is to try to find a domain name that includes keywords that are relevant to your niche. CheerfulDomains.com is a great place to buy domain names.

WordPress

You will need a copy of WordPress to set up ebay niche websites the way I do. WordPress is super simple to set up. Most hosting packages offer a quick and easy install. If not, you can download WordPress from WordPress.org. It comes with easy to follow instructions on how to get it live and ready!

Wordpress Plugins

Plugins are where the magic happens.

PageMash
The WordPress plugin PageMash helps you to categorize your pages in any way that you like. You can create directories and sub-directories of products or pages on your niche sites.

Google XML Sitemap
The Google XML Sitemap plugin is an invaluable resource to have when setting these sites up. With it, whenever you post a new page on your site, it will instantly notify Google, Yahoo, MSN and ASK and their spiders are all over your site. This helps to get new pages indexed quickly.

Google Analytics
Another critical tool to have is the Google Analytics plugin. If you do not have a Google Analytics account, be sure to sign up at www.google.com/analytics. This is a free service and offers you incredible incite into who is visiting your sites, for how long, how they got there, etc.

The mother of all plugins

Do you value your time at all? Do you enjoy spending countless hours trying to get something to work that should be very simple? Guess what… I spent many many hours trying to get ebay RSS feeds to work on my WordPress sites. Then, I came across this! This IS THE BEST purchase I have made this year. Most WordPress plugins are free. This one is so worth the money. With it, you can put ebay ads on your WordPress blog or website with one simple line of code. Time to get started

Ok, this is enough to get you started. For some of you experienced with doing this, it may be all the info you need. If you are new to creating niche websites for ebay or Amazon, this is plenty of information to get you going.
